Question Panel removal

Looking for instructions on how to remove the panel to the right of the steering wheel with the little "grate" vent looking thing. i am going to install my BT mic here but do not know how to get that panel off. It looks like it might be part of one big piece. Any ideas? Thanks.

Which grate? The left one of the pair of airducts? I think some here have changed out the map light for one with a BT.

The one in the photo to the left of and in between the temp and air directional flow knobs. It is just to the right of the steering column. I already have the NAVI mic in the dome light and it will not fit two - unless someone knows how to drill plastic w/o melting/cracking it. I do not have plastic bits but thought I could stealth the BT mic inside the same housing in the dome light - but the holes I would make will look cheesy I think, therefore I want to mount it behind the "grate".

Conventional plastic is easy enough to drill - use a new sharp wood/general-purpose bit, then drill with a variable-speed drill at a slow setting, like around 100 RPM. The bit will cut into the plastic with very low pressure. Running at low speed will keep from overheating the contact point and melting the plastic. Ideally, put the piece on top of a piece of wood so that you drill through both surfaces - this will help prevent stress on the plastic. To keep the bit from wandering around when you intially start drilling, use an awl or knife-point to make a slight indentation in the plastic at the center point of where you intend to drill.

In the worse case that you screw something up, you can likely buy the replacement panel from Bernardi or eleswhere.

Thanks everyone. For call quality I placed the mic on the steering column as suggested by the mfg. Looks ok and sounds great.
