GE Fit and 6MT

Annoyed? Consider this: You've already had 2-3 years' head start driving a GE. Why be annoyed?

Yes. Just as its cheaper to produce a car with an open differential, versus a limited-slip. I'd much rather have an LSD over a 6th gear.
Not really, but I guess I'm one of the few that thinks a 6th gear on the Fit is not at all necessary. Try driving a 4.7 or 4.9 Final Drive short geared 5-spd car (a Type R for example) across the country, 32 hours humming along at 5,000 RPMs going 80mph. Still gets 32 mpg, for a car rated at 28 highway. I guess I'm used to being halfway up the tachometer at freeway cruising speeds, but so is every fuel injected Honda engine.

Simple reason really: it's part of the facelift/refresh of the GE lineup. Marketing people will sell the 6MT as part of a raft of improvements to help sustain or raise the sales numbers on the Fit.

Oh yeah, the type R I'm talking about is also 13 fing years old. (1997).
/stupid talk about stupid BMWs and 3mpg. I've gotten 36.36 in the R anyway, but its an R, so why the hell would I want to drive like a girl, like you'd have to in that BMW to get the mileage you're talking about?

except the OP wasnt talking about saving gas. After not too long im sure the tranny will be available for $5-700 bucks... even if its $1000. The fun to drive and driving performance would increase. If it would mate with the L15 from the GD with minimal mods i would want to do it.

honda needs to give you a reason to trade in your old fit, plus Honda is trying to keep ahead of the competition in the Fit market segment.
The 2011 model will have VSA standard option...and a 6MT hopefully to keep it at the top value in its market segment!
moonroof and Bluetooth would also be welcomed!
