driveline really really whines in reverse?

driveline really really whines in reverse?
anyone elses fit do this? sounds like a oil-deprived straight cut gearbox or a b757 starting up... a tad annoying

Most manuals will sound like a coffee grinder in reverse - it's the gearing.

the reverse gear sound isn't specific to hondas, my gt-four made that sound as well. now that i think about it... every car i've ever driven makes the reverse gear whine

The sound you are hearing in reverse is due to the gears being straight cut, much the same as the gears on a sport bike.

none of my other MTs sounded like this - or, atleast, to this intensity. this is the most prominent reverse "whine" under my ownership

keep in mind, the FIT has little to no sound deadening. probably the reason why it's so much louder than your previous cars.

Reverse = spur gear. It's going to whine, no two ways about it.

Just watch a youtube video of a beamer with spur-cut gears in the tranny-mmmmm.
