Rear Middle Seatbelt Help

Hi everyone,

I used the rear middle seatbelt of my 2010 Fit over the weekend and now I can't seem to release one of the buckles so that it retracts back to the ceiling.

One buckle (the one that looks like an ordindary seatbelt with the red push button) released just fine, but I can't seem to release the other extension part. There are two arrows on the buckle that line up so I know I did it correctly, but where is the button to push to release the latch?

Help! I've tried everything.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm not at my car at the moment, but I think there's a notch on the side of the latch that you should be able to release by sticking in a buckle. It should also be in the manual.

Here, I found the text in the manual:

Wow, that must be it. My manual doesn't have that picture or detailed description. Thanks for finding it! It almost looked like I should use a butter knife to pop the trigger but having the buckle do it instead makes a lot more sense

Thanks!!

I need to add that to the post for things I hate about my Fit. Who thought that was a good idea?

Yep, push the buckle into the thing to release the seatbelt.

Likely a safety thing.

In theory, if it gets used enough where it's a pain or annoyance, it's not worth unbuckling.

That's part of the compromise of having multi-configurable rear seats. If the belt wasn't retractable, then it'll be in the way when you lay the seats down. Just a minor inconvenience for the versatility tradeoff. I'd rather have that than just a lap belt for the middle. Just have to be smarter than the seat belt. lol
