Skis INSIDE Fit?

Hi guys, I'm new to the site. Registered because searching, both here and the internet at large, wasn't helping with my question.

Anyways, I'm thinking of finally buying myself some skis this year, instead of renting, and I'm wondering if anybody's managed to fit them IN their Fit. Mine's a 2010 Sport, if it matters. My ski size would be under 170, probably in the 168 range. If I'm gonna buy a roof rack, I'll do it for my '09 Si instead, but since I'm not a kayaker or biker, I'd rather not have to spend the money on one.

So, has anybody tried?

I don't own skis nor have I tried this but I assume the ski size you mentioned is in centimeters, right? If not, disregard this post.

However if this is so, the skis will be approximately 67.2 inches if my math is right. If you were to put your smaller rear seat (one on the passenger side if I recall correctly) in the flat position and recline your passenger front seat all the way back so it lays it's back flat on top of the rear seat then it may work. I recommend trying positioning your seats like this and measuring first so you know that you will have enough space first.

Just threw my Atomic 918's into the Back to test. With the Driver's side rear seat down, they fit diagonally with an inch or two to spare. I'm on 180's and my driver's seat is one click forward from the last notch. and one click reclined.

I'd still recommend a rack of some sort of roof or outside rack as inside the car is fine when heading to the mountain... when there's snow in the bindings and you are heading home.... the inside of the car will get wet. (and the windows inside fog up from the moisture)

There are clip on racks, window mount racks, eton makes a magnet/suction cup rack which supposedly got good reviews.

FYI, Killington got over 10" of snow two days ago.
