Fit Base... questions and price
Fit Base... questions and price
So recently I have been doing a lot of research on the Fit. It seems like a great car. I'm thinking about buying a '10 base manual w\ cruise control. I'm concerned about two things.
1. 15' wheels... Is this a huge problem?
2. I'm quoted at just under 13k for the car (I want to get it for lower, around 11.5 - 12k)... Is this a good price? I am thinking too low?
Look forward to your replies and thanks in advance.

15" wheels -- I have 15" wheels and winter tires on my 2009 sport, and I don't notice much of a difference in normal driving, so I think it'll be fine.
As for the price, I think, considering the invoice price is $14.3k, you're doing pretty good to get it for around $13k (assuming that includes destination, but excludes taxes and doc fees). Of course you should try to get the dealer to go lower, but I think 13k is good. You have to remember that there's not as much of a margin in Fits as in more expensive cars.
One thing you should check is the manufacture date on the car (it's on the driver's door jamb). If you see the car was made awhile ago, you could try to use that to bargain.

I went with the '11 base for this reason. The '11 base comes with WAY more features stock than the '10 and you should either use this as a bargaining chip to drive the price down very low, or realize that you can get a lot more for not much more $$$ with the '11 base. The following are standard new on the base '11 and were the reasons I got it instead of a '10: honda's electronic stability control, the USB integration and cruise control.
I think you need to figure out what features you need to have and decide from there... if you must have cruise control, you're stuck with either the 2010 sport or 2011 base (or up). Of course, you're not likely to get as good a deal on the 2011 models.
Personally, stability control (VSA) is important enough to me that I'd only consider the 2011 models (since it's standard on all models). All cars are supposed to have it standard starting in the 2012 model year, for what it's worth.
