With State Farm my discounts are more than 50%.

I dont have the Fit policy in front of me but the motorcycle renewal just arrived.

Liability 250/500/100 $19.57
UMV Bodily Injury 30/50 $26.21
UMV Property Damage $ 7.76
Six moths total $53.54

Now get this.
Premium Reductions
Driving Safety Record $55.97
California Good Driver $13.38
Loyalty $11.74

Thats just over 60% in discounts.

Got my renewal bill from State Farm today for the Fit (2010 Base M/T).
(for 6 months)

Liab 250k/500k/100k $124.22
250 Deductible Comp $19.47
500 Deductible Coll $88.90
UMC 30k/60k $12.94
UMV Prop Damage $1.59

Amount Due $247.12

Premium Reductions
Multiple Line $50.64
Multicar $58.80
Driving Safety Record $297.61
California Good Driver $61.79
Loyalty $54.24
Annual Mileage $59.13

About 68%

Even a new customer without other vehicles or homeowners/renters with them and drives over 7500 miles a year, with just a clean driving record, the premium is not that bad, $88.62/mo.

Lyon's original post is right. When I traded a 4x4 Toyota pickup for a 2WD C-1500 in '93 my insurance went down. I was with Allstate at the time. A Corvette was rated cheaper to insure than a Camaro. Why, Im sure it was average owner demographic.

I am 45 with no accidents or tickets in the last six years and I pay ~$700/yr for my Fit with Traveler's.

Discounts are a gimmick. All insurance companies have different base rates.
