Anyone Total their Fit yet?

Wondering if anyone has totaled their US Spec 5spd Fit yet where insurance company has reimbursed you for the car. I'm interested in buying the car (depending on level of damage) if insurance company has offered it for buyback.

yes, there was somebody that had totaled their fit. It was hit headon by an STi or something of the sort and the airbags deployed and the people in the Fit walked away while the retarted teenage driver had a broken leg

See thread on Fit totalled by drunk driver

The Fit she was driving didn't have tags, and she's probably in jail or out on bond, but it was definitely totalled when she drove it the wrong way into a tunnel. Fortunately the innocent driver she ran into walked away with minor injuries. That doesn't usually happen in a head-on collision.

I was looking for something that was repairable. This one sounds like it probably didn't do too well.

I have GAP insurance on my car so if it is ever at a total loss from an accident or if it is stolen, it will be completely paid off and I'm pretty sure that I will get my deposit back it is def something to look into, because having it lowers your insurance too

Here's the article about the head-on accident in the tunnel, with another article with video available here.

Quick Summary: It was just before 4am on July 5th. The 25 year old driver of the Fit was intoxicated, and driving the wrong way on the road, when she ran head-on into another vehicle, breaking only her clavicle. She was arrested at the hospital. The other driver was driving a 2003 Jeep (something), and had only minor injuries.

awesome, it's the new subaru wrx sti known as "2003 jeep".

from the news reports it sounds like the injuries to the fit driver were worse than that those to the jeep driver.

My Fit was wrecked by the dealership before I took delivery. The last time I had to go in (to get the nozzle on the rear wiper fixed), it was still there, waiting to be fixed. I know because originally they thought they didn't have the part needed to fix the Fit I'm driving today, and I suggested they check to see if they could pull the part off of the one out back. The service rep looked surprised that I knew about it until I told her that it was supposed to be my car...

The car was hit in the driver's side front/passenger doors and airbags did deploy. The dealership said it would be repaired and go out for sale evetually. If you're curious, PM me and I'll tell you what dealership to contact.
