Door relocking if not opened in X seconds, disable?
#22
I like the 95 Vette's transmitter (at least for the door)... walk up, pull handle, enter. or exit, close door, walk away. either way, it locks/unlocks so long as you have the transmitter on you. But you still needed the key to start the engine. I would guess they kept that around, but the 95 Vette was the only one I drove. But OMG, is it a pain in the ass if you're doing other things around it. Even if you're standing at the trunk putting things into or taking things out of the trunk, you're just far enough, it'll lock and unlock just from leaning in and out.

I press the button twice and it'll still lock on me. I also find it a pain in the ass. My wife likes to lock the car, I usually leave it unlocked, so I hit the unlock from inside, fiddle around the garage, and go to my car, and have to go back inside to get the key to unlock. Sure, I could keep the key on me, but the point is, I told the car to unlock, why does it relock? if this can be disabled, I'd like to hear.

This poster speaks truth.
Knowing how many Fits I've put latch assemblies in for either noise or failure I disabled auto locking with speed, etc... and unlocked only with my key. Call it paranoid but they aren't particularly cheap nor easy to put in and after a warranty replacement on my Fit at 15k miles I just stopped using them as much as possible. Typical of Honda, though, lock actuators going bad. VWs, I am learning, have similar woes with them.
Maybe it's complexity of the cars, maybe it's the Shiraz I'm drinking, but it seems quality is going down, at least from a malfunction/feature issue point of view.
