Alarm going off all night - had to beg my way out of a ticket
I bought a used '08 Fit Sport a month ago, and I've had no problems up until today. I park on the streets of San Francisco, and last night apparently my alarm was going off frequently. This morning I had to talk my way out of a ticket for keeping the entire neighborhood awake - they let me off because I'd just bought it and didn't even realize the alarm was active.
I'd really like to avoid being that guy in the future, so I want to completely disable the alarm so that it never happens again. An alarm is fairly useless in San Francisco anyway - they're just annoying. Can anyone tell me how to kill it, short of disabling the horn all together? Thanks.

I wish I knew why the alarm was going off. Possibly it was being set off by buses or large cars driving by. It's odd, because I've been parking in the neighborhood for a month with no problems, including the previous night, when I'd parked just a few spots away from where I was last night.
I was only able to avoid the ticket due to good timing - when I got to my car this morning to go to work, there was a cop there about to write a ticket to match the three notes on the windshield from angry neighbors (one of which said they were calling the cops). I'm lucky no one keyed me.

There is an alarm horn. The primary horn is a different unit. I'm thinking you need to look inside the front left wheel well to find it. It can be un-plugged, but it's still strange it was randomly going off. Some one is messing with you. Don't like where you parked or maybe how you comb your hair...
Could be that someone was walking by and kicking the tires every so often, but that would be a pretty vindictive move. Could the alarm just be faulty or something?
Thanks for the tip - do you happen to have a link to instructions on how to get inside the front left wheel? I'm a computer nerd, not a car guy, so I don't really know my way around.

I would give a call to a dealer and have it checked out. I'm not familiar with the alarm in my 2010 let alone your 2008. As far as I know kicking or bouncing the car will not set it off. Did you hear it? Did anyone leave their name so you might talk with them or were they simply nasty notes. Did the cop hear it or simply respond to the nasty calls and notes??
A question to you, is it an aftermarket alarm or original???

Nope, no one left a name - I got the impression they don't like me very much. The cop didn't hear it either, he was just responding to the complaint.
I hadn't heard it go off at all, so I locked the car and then shook it a little, tried the handle aggressively, and finally set if off by kicking the front left tire a little.
The alarm is stock, I believe. I did get suckered into the extra security thing I've read about in other posts, but my understanding is that that's not so much an alarm as a gadget that kills the ignition if it's broken into.

There's no shock sensor in the OEM alarm so a 747 could have gone right over the car and it wouldn't alarm. The door has to be opened to set it off. I'd take it to the dealer to have them look at it if it is OEM.
also, you might want to check into the GD3 forums as the GE8 was only available as an 08 model in Japan. in the US, the GE8 began as an '09. You probably have the previous generation FIT.
