safe to downshift into first gear?

well its a little too late for that isnt it?

lol well its also got a sport mode, with paddle shifters, so i can downshift if i want to. i would've gotten a a manual if but its a compromise i made with my dad cause he drives it sometimes too.

if you're not gonna say anything useful, dont say anything at all, k thanks bye

I'm not sure if this is going to turn into one of those auto vs manual threads or not.

I've had some MT cars in the past but I bought the Fit Sport AT for the lower RPM at highway speeds, for other drivers of my car that like an AT, and so it would shift for me when I'm not in the mood to do so. In the Sport mode with paddle shifting, you replicate SOME of the MT experience, and I'm happy with it.
Now, about throwing it into first to engine brake at higher speeds... Just because the ECU will allow it at a certain point and the drive train can take the stress does not mean that it is good for it. I'd advise you to avoid it when possible, but not worry if you do it on occasion.
