EP3 has 160hp, why not buy an EP3 instead of a GE?

Eww all the new Si's are gross.

Gimme an Em1 over an FA5/FG2/2012 Si/EP3. Although Easy_E's (From Honda-Tech) EP3 is AMAZING.

EP's are hawt as fuck. i've always loved them. they are known as an SIR here in canada.....i'd buy one in a second. they aren't overly common here tho.

4door SI civic is another favorite.

I have owned an EP3 hatch for 3 yrs. What a blast to drive, totally addictive at 160 KPH. The only issue I had was that it was always, always in the shop. Perpetual warped warped rotors, useless parking brake, defective clutch pedal assembly, shift knob falling off, mystery oil consumption, rear wiper failure, gas consumption and so on.

My 08 Fit auto is bullet proof reliable and a blast to drive. Hands down better on day to day driving. I have always preferred manuals since my old MGB ....... I think a manual deserves some power to really enjoy it, otherwise you are just rowing!

Yes, I would love to own a sorted out EP3. Just my experience. Peace.

To answer the OP:

GE8 can be bought with factory warranty and with less than 10 miles on the clock. If there is an EP3 out there that is still available with those things it'll be a lot more than $16000-$18000.

And the Fit with 117 Bhp is more powerful than a MGB in all variants but the MGB GT V8 which never came to the North American continent. The appeal of a manual is the ability to chose the power band for the right driving situation. On a small engine the power band is usually narrow and it is therefore important to be able to chose how and when you use it.

That last one was awesome!

Apples to oranges IMO. Horsepower isn't everything to everyone and you can't buy a brand new EP. Not to mention the MPG difference between the two.

What are those EP3's worth anyways? I'm guessing 5 to 10 grand? For that money I'd definitely get something else.

All EP3's are stick. Some people don't want stick (at that rally shifting stick)
GE has a lot more storage, better gas mileage and probably cheaper to maintain (due to cheaper parts and not as performance orientated motor)

Don't get me wrong..I love the EP3 but for a basic commuter car the GE wins in my book. Now for a track car...I don't think its even a question.
The OP needs to read this again, perfect answer.

Unless the EP3R Design is any different from the EP3 (Si) design here in the US, many publications preferred the EP3R to the current EDM CTR because of the fact that the rear Torsion beam suspension on the current CTR doesn't have the same capability that the EP3R has. Since the EDM Civic Type R is based on the same platform as the Fit, I'd have to say the EP3 is probably a more capable vehicle on the track (and on everyday roads in "fun mode") than the Fit. TopGear put the EP3R against the Current CTR and the EP3R was better in every aspect except for creature comforts.

I personally still need 4 doors and good economy (or else I'd have kept my GS-R) so the fit is my choice. Plus the 5MT fit is actually quieter than my GS-R at 60mph.

You need to buy a turbo to get 160hp out of a GE. The turbo will not be emission legal in CA.

Again not everyone wants horsepower when they buy a car.

TurboManGT, you have a 2010 FA5 in your signature, therefore you must want a certain level of power. Why do you own a car with 197hp and then tell others hp doesn't matter?

I don't think he is saying that HP doesn't matter, more like some people don't hold HP as a high priority for their cars.

I think you are badly in need of an Intro to Logic or Philosophy 101 course.

For many, HP doesn't matter. I went from a 270hp VQ35 V6 Altima SE with the sport suspension to a 117hp 1.5L Fit and honestly, couldn't be happier after 1.5 years of ownership. I had 270hp but the car was boring and numb to drive. The fit... is not as it is engaging and enjoyable. with 43% of the horsepower.

Also, if HP mattered, Turbo wouldn't have opted for an Si. you can get vehicles with much more power for about the same price as an Si. It has a nice balance of performance and "fun to drive" feeling. If I didn't need better economy and the low payments/insurance of the Fit, I'd be driving an Si too. (still miss my GS-R)

You're missing the point. Just because I want a certain level of "power" doesn't mean everyone has the same standard. Each person will have different requirements when they purchase a car. The majority of Fit owners are not looking for power or luxury.

Is there even an ep3 in existence that hasn't been riced to hell? Coincidently I decimated a riced out ep3 on the highway. He had limo tint, lame rims and blinding pnp hid lights. When I flashed my highbeams from behind him and he tried to take off... It was seriously like passing a
Prius.
