EP3 has 160hp, why not buy an EP3 instead of a GE?
To answer the original question:
The SI's are kinda neat, but the car doesn't seem worth it.
- If you want an SI, the newer ones are less dumpy looking, more powerful, sleeker lines, improved safety cage, etc.
- If you want power, 160 hp... really? If I want 160 hp in a hatchback, I'll buy a Mazda3. Or a MazdaSPEED3.
- SI's are notorious for having the flying f*ck beat out of them by their drivers. It's marketed as the sport version of the Civic, but doesn't really deliver much on power - it requires the driver to wring the engine like a drunken prostitute's nipple. At ~12K miles per year, that's at least 60-70K miles on the newest ones on the road. Even the ones that aren't covered in tacky crap.
No thanks.
The only thing they really have in common is that they are both Hondas, and both have liftgates.

Ok, it was a slight exaggeration, but seriously, MUGEN logo? If I bought that thing I'd rip it off as soon as i drove away. Also, if he's got that logo on the front then there are probably more we're not seeing.

You must not realize that is a Mugen grill.
And do tell, what wouldn't you find to be 'tacky' as you say? Inquiring minds want to know.
If you want a 5 speed GE you might as well get a EP3. GE modded to get to the 160 hp level of a EP3 means your modded GE is no longer a 50 state street legal Honda. You also will sacrifice reliability.
If you want an automatic fuel efficient car and don't care about performance then get a GE.

J/k but it is ridiculous how much people think their 2000 civic dx is worth.

It's the details that can drastically change whether someone likes something or not.
In fact, the Fit is just as "similar" to the Toyota Matrix.
edit: what is the point of this thread anyway? is it to get people to sell a perfectly usable car to go out and buy a used car that could've been abused? or is it some ego trip the OP is on? I mean, not everyone wants "moar horses" in their car. And while it does make a Fit not street legal to pump it to 160 hp... you don't ONLY need HP to get performance out of a car. The Fit is tracked differently from the EP3 (Fit is wider in front of Sport, Base is wider than the Sport). What does it say, to a person ranting about getting a 160 hp Civic... that plenty of people THOROUGHLY ENJOY their lower HP Fits?
OH MY GOD, you mean this whole time I was driving the wrong car? *facepalms* Does that quote sound stupid to anyone else?
Actually, does this whole THREAD seem stupid to anyone else, besides me?
Honestly, I'm sick of this EP3, EK-whatever, FA5 and even GE/GD crap... it's a car. You like it good, if others don't, why do you care?

...similar... yet very different.
Subtle changes make the difference.
Sorry mods, couldn't resist.

You might as well stick an AMG banner on the window of your busted up 190 so that your buddies think you're cool.

Ya cause that would be better with a mugen logo!
The most complemented Fit that is now on this forum in 5 years will be looked upon as being a ricer or whatever other derogatory term is in vogue then... That is one of the lesser reasons why Function over Form is so attractive to me...
Having owned a brand new 2004 Civic Si and now a 2010 Fit Sport, I would say the advantages it has over the Fit are the materials are definitely better quality, the driver's seat was more comfortable, it has more leg room for the driver, and it has a moonroof. I would say the advantages of the Fit are the fuel mileage, four doors, and VSA. That's about it.
