This time, I just want something predictable, nice looking/fitting, and that has some market value for an easier resell. That is often an overlooked point when talking about some DIY parts vs. the brand name kits. I know it's stupid, but that's the way it is.
Been there before too and the only way you get buyer interests when re-selling a DIY exhaust (axlebacks) is when you have one that is...
A) a direct bolt on (meaning you have to have correct flanges and not a hack and weld job)
B) a universal muffler with a reputable name (only certain magnaflows comes to my mind)
If you take these extra steps... your chances of getting a few doughs back when time to sell is good at best.

Yeah, like 50-75 percent of your investment in a lot of cases! Nuff said.

sound is amazing...was driving with the gf yesterday and my car and the sti next to me sounded identical lol. its a clean exhaust sound does not sound like a ricey 4banger its so hard to describe and the sound clips dont give it justice.

with that said mine is louder because the resonator has been taken off my bpipe.

with just the axleback this would be a VERY SILENT option.

No kidding. Not like he has a real life/job. He just hangs out here!

On another note, where did you get your exhaust?

I installed mine this morning. I think it sounds awesome, definitely not super loud in the car. It comes with a silencer that I'm going to try and remove to see what difference it makes.
Unfortunately the thing is really stuck in there so I emailed Megan for their advice. If I dont hear from em by this afternoon I'll try to pull it after a drive to see if the heat will help...

why would you go from hks to megan? i really don't mean any disrespect, but hks is a pretty reputable company that does actual RnD along with Greddy and Tanabe where all of these axle-backs have shown realistic power gains.

upgrade in my eyes

did not want the cannon look of the hks anymore

wanted something different, this style and price caught my eye so i jumped on it.....
pretty sure the megan part wont blow my car up.

and no offense taken ghettoboy

to me $220 for a LOOK and Sound I dig > another close to $200-250 for a "proven" 5hp gain.

at gains like that id be better of throwing a 20 to ebay for a "20HP performance chip"

again thats how I view it.

poser-fake-loser whatever that makes me. just being real

Damn dude. Mine is a be-otch! I gave it a half ass try with pliers and some wd-40 before I installed it and it didn't budge. The guy from megan said that they make them that way on purpose as I guess some customers were complaining about losing them despite the bolts.

Update: Half a sec with some vice grips and POP!

You guys must have purchased the Model Number : MR-ABE-HF09DS. I was thinking about purchasing the Model Number : MR-ABE-HF09OE. I was afraid the first one might be a little too loud even with the silencer. Any thoughts?

It might be, but honestly with the silencer in it's pretty quiet. I get a nice rumble up to about 3k and then it gets drowned out by my intake. Definitely not overly intrusive. With the silencer out, it is MUCH louder. Sounds awesome, but very noticeable.

If you are worried about noise the one you are looking at will be quieter and a better bet, unless you have a aesthetic preference between the two...

Someone needs to try the "quieter" model now. Everyone needs to post up sound clips.

I’ll make a decision this weekend on the Megan, but I’m leaning in the direction of the quieter one. I also think aesthetics plays a role, as I’ve always preferred my cars to be sleepers.
