39.78mpg (calculated)
SO CLOSE to 40. My MPG indicator read 35.8mpg, but I calculated 40. I will get there. Only 2500 miles on the car (2010 fit sport AT). I think if it didn't rain for two days straight, I would have hit 40.
I don't know how some of you people get 45+, or 50+. I do 80% highway driving and keep it at 65mph. Tires filled to 38PSI.

You'll get there easy as your engine breaks in a little. That bit about not using the brakes is kind of key, I think. Just keeping that cushion in front of you so you don't have to make any drastic speed changes. We have heavy traffic around here and I run the tires at stock pressure, but my last fill was 44.

What size of tires you got on there?

I found the cruise control hurts economy on hilly roads. My daily commute is all Hilly areas and I lose about 1-2mpg when I use Cruise. On Perfectly flat areas, it's fine but economy will drop when hills are involved.
the two problems I've seen with Cruise on Hilly areas are that it tries to maintain the speed (obviously) but doesn't let the car's speed drop down a few mpg. Going down Hills, it uses engine braking which kills momentum. On Long hills, both of these are fine, as you don't want to drop down too slow going up hill or go to fast down the other side, but when shorter hills are involved, it is detrimental. The engine braking kills the chance to conserve momentum unless you apply a tiny bit of gas to cancel out the braking. When heading up hills, I'll let the speed slowly drop a little bit (usually down to the speed limit as I'm often 5-7 over) instead of requiring that I maintain my current speed.
The Vehicle that was best for Hills was the Altima with the 3.5L V6 & a CVT. Setting cruise on that was great as there was no shifting and gear ratios were adjusted for maximum economy. That car was 270hp available instantly and had a lifetime economy of over 27mpg. But that was on Midgrade with a numb ride and I can't complain about getting almost 38mpg on regular (and being back in a 5MT)

my average reads anywhere from 38's to 40, but I live in flat Florida. Right now its reading 40.7. If you have less than 30 something is wrong for a 1.5L engine.
Sure...all the time...when I go down a large bridge and let off the gas for a few moments. Otherwise no.
