Things you can do to improve mpg...

-lose weight. This can be as simply as removing all that extra stuff you carry around needlessly day-after-day to as extreme as going on a diet yourself and removing all unnecessary items from the Fit. There are a lot of unnecessary items inside... passenger & rear seats, audio, carpet, headliner, etc etc.

-adjust your driving habits... drive like there is an egg shell between your foot and the fuel pedal.

-turn off the air conditioning and keep the windows closed... this will be easier said than done.

-plan your driving to avoid hitting all the stops & lights but not to the point it makes the trip unnecessarily long.

-avoid excessive idling.

-avoid unnecessary aimless cruising around. I know... this will be very difficult to terminate given the Fit is fun to drive but we can do it.

About losing weight for my FIT to save fuel...I guess I am lucky because my petite wife is 4 ft 9ins and weight 90 pounds = 40 kilo.... I can just zip around town with her in the car but felt like I am driving alone in the car weight wise

I am saving a lot right there

Next time I'll make mine walk and check for improvement.

And some of my best mileage is aimlessly cruising around. It's aimfully driving to work where it suffers.

We are talking about the facts of life - serious discussion here in adherence to the topic of fuel saving techniques

Law of physics, less weight for the FIT to carry around means using less fuel as this post relates to fuel savings ideas and improvement to mpg for our FITs

To help improve gas mileage:

1. Run 36-38 psi in all tires. Don't forget to check often, particularly if it gets cold in your area. You lose about 1 psi for each 10 degree cooling of ambient air.
2. Don't warm the car in the morning - start, let run for a few seconds to stabilize oil pressure, the drive easily until warm.
3. Get rid of excess weight - don't drive with things in your car that you don't need.
4. Waxing the car will cut down on surface drag, and will make a very minor improvement in mileage.
5. Get the car in top gear as soon as possible when accelerating. Unless you are going up a hill, shifting at 3000-3500 rpm is recommended.

Quoteing myself here. This is the best thing you could do aside from adjusting your driving habits to improve MPG.

FYI this works on Base and Sport Fits......Read the link. Well worth it..

I ask myself sometimes, what is a throttle? If I'm lucky I also answer me: it's the valve thingy that restricts air-flow into the car's intake manifold.

But, I ask, what makes it move? Ahh little one, an electric stepper motor.

But, but, what controls it? You do my son. With your foot. And an electronic throttle control called an accelerator pedal. It sends a signal to the Fit's Engine Control Unit (another "electronic controller") which in turn tells the stepper motor how much to move the throttle open or closed.

Well, with two controllers, this pedal thingy and the ECU what is the need for an additional "electronic throttle controller" that is sold online from China? Oh that. It's like a volume control. It modulates the signal from the pedal to the Fit's ECU so it moves the throttle either more or less than it would have normally.

What? I can do that with my freakin' foot!!!! And my brain!! Why would I need some add-on device to alter what my brain tells my foot to tell the throttle what to do?!!! I hear you, my son. Take heed: the change introduced by the controller makes your brain think the car has more power. Your brain is a pretty silly controller compared to the Fit's ECU.

D'oh.

^^^Thats cute, but obviously you have no clue what you are talking about. Hey make fun, be the cute bad guy on the internet. Im impressed. I tryed to help the OP. Your knowledge is SO much better, and maybe he should listen to you. I tryed to help. Guess im just a big dummy then huh. D oh. Mine useless peice of Blitz made in japan junk is worthless. My foot cant think that fast ya know. The signal from my smaller brain cannot process the information fast enough to press the pedal harder. Yeah thats it. These devices are useless, and we should just flush the cash down the toilet it would be easier right?

FYI there is a difference and your foot will never keep up, but you are the expert. TR1, Blitz, and other repatable companys know absolutely nothing about anything such as your great knowledge. Maybe you should work for AJ Racing they could use you. No wait a minute they promote, use, and sell one.

D OH
