TPMS fault

Hi all. I am sure this has been addressed, but I can't seem to find it in the search. I just got a TPMS fault today and from what I understand it means that a sensor is bad. I was wondering if there was any practical way of me fixing this myself? I don't mind spending money on tools, even if it is more than getting it fixed at a dealer. I would also be open to disabling the feature so that the light on the dash just goes out.

I had the same problem on my 09 FIT - took it back to the dealer and fix for free.

Keep in mind that TPMS light indicator is different than the tires light.

TPMS icon came on without the low tire indicator, right?

If so, turn ignition switch to the on position and watch the light again. It comes on and then should go off in a few seconds. If not check under dash fuse #2 [10A]. If blown replace. If it blows again it's a ground problem.

If not and problem persists check fuse #22 [7.5A] If blown replace. Same thing if it blows again.

Beyond this you'll need to pull codes - Honda needs to do this to get into the TPMS system....

Some have simply disregarded the TPMS system and blacked out the light w/ tape, or pull the cluster and done it from the inside.

No real issues if you ignore the light.

hkfooey, is your fit still under warranty? Mine has 45k miles on it and is not under warranty anymore.

Thanks Krimson Carnal. I will check those fuses tonight since the light did not go out when turning the key on. Is there a consumer grade product to pull codes and fix myself? Or is this proprietary? I would rather invest in tools and learn how to do something myself than to take to the dealer knowing that I am going to get reamed lol.

Over the counter code readers aren't going to get to the TPMS DTC's. Honda service is your best shot. With no fuses blown, pulling codes are the only true way to know.

My FIT is still under the normal warranty - and I bought additional warranty to 100k miles/8 years.

I plan to keep my FIT "FOREVER" or at least until it dies on me in 2039... LOL
