oh wow i didnt type it sorry.

ok Ihave and engine light that came on and i ran it thru my scanner and its p0171. so its my intake and i did a short ram intake. so i went back to the air box stock. then code was gone. before i went to stock i tighten everything drove about 100 miles on it still engine light so i went back to stock. then engine light is gone ran the scanner the history is there. i was wondering is there any MAF sensor meant for a SRI or cold air intake. etc.
thank you

I'm having trouble seeing the part where the MAF is mounted. Did you cut the stock airbox, and use the stock MAF tube?

You have to make sure that your MAF is in a tube that is the exact same Diameter as stock, or you will get the CEL. The MAF is calibrated for a specific pipe size, so if you go larger, air will get passed without a proper reading from the MAF, causing it to run lean and throw the CEL.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you have a damaged/dirty MAF then.

Does the engine seem to hesitate or stutter if quickly tap the throttle from an idle?

If it runs fine stock you don't need a new MAF. More than likely you either had a vacuum leak or somehow turbulence was introduced to the sensor. Disconnect the top connector to the back of the ecu and then reconnect it The ECU is that black rectangle in front of your filter and brake fluid resevoir. This will erase all of your codes from memory. It will not come back stock. It's hard for me to tell what went wrong in yours without actually looking at the tube. You may possibly have cut it too short, deformed it, or there maybe something upstream of it introducing turbulence and skewing the reading.

Stay away from the dealer. If the code went away stock and he is still trying to get you to buy an MAF, that's pretty sad on his part. An ultragauge would make this much easier to diagnose, that way we could look at your short term and long term fuel trims and see where it is getting confuzled.
