Anyone have a Revo Technica shifter?
Anyone have a Revo Technica shifter?
Sorry.. nobody has been replying to my Buddy club and Mugen shifter threads! and i had another question to ask.
Is this a reputable company? I been trying to research it and its hard to find anything other then Buddy Club.. Mugen.. Skunk2.. T1R.. but it seems like this is pretty cheap for a shifter that comes with a whole new housing..
Buddy Club's - 140 bux
Mugen - 180 bux
Revo Technica - 86!
And the 2 short shifters that comes with leaver only
Skunk2 - 55 bux
T1R - 80 bux
if all of these shifters are about the same.. i think i'll go with the Revo Technica.. anyone heard anything about it?

OK done. I like it. Installation was very easy, just watch revo's video on youtube, it shows you everything you need to know. The throw is most definitely reduced. Revo says it's 40% reduction and I would say that seems accurate. The throw from say 3rd to 4th feels like the same distance it was from 3rd to neutral on the stock shifter. So that would be damn close to 50% reduction so 40% seems about right. The height of the shift knob also dropped a little. I'd say just under an inch. There's a bit of a firmer feel when shifting, but doesn't make shifting feel clunky or difficult. Very happy with my $85 ebay purchase, now we just see how it holds up over time
. Check out my pictures below and the video, it might help show you the improvement better.

Both of these pictures are with the new shifter. Wanted to do two shots, one before and one after, then overlay them to show the difference, but that didn't work out

nice! yeah i think iam going to go for it... i don't see why mugen and buddy club is so expensive...
iam going to wait untill i order all of my car audio stuff and do that shifter at the same time, because the install requires removal of the center arm rest area, and i figure i would do my wiring while it is all out.

i hate mugen. sure it's nice if you can afford it, all the parts look and work nice, but they are ridiculously overpriced. i can't imagine the mugen ss is any better than this revo. oh and the center console is super easy to remove, but it would nice to get it all done in one go!
Ehh in terms of reputability, it appears to be one of those generic OEM knockoff's of other brands but I've had this since Winter 09 and I have yet to have a single problem with it.
OG install video is with my car too so yeah.

can you also comment if this indeed allow you to change gear quicker, or is sport clutch also required in order to acheive the result?

Cheers
The throw is a lot shorter compared to stock IMO anyway. Made a considerable difference in my car's drive-ability. The gear changes are a lot more precise and quicker from what I have noticed.
I bet installing some solid shifter bushings would help even more, and I plan to do that later on down the road. Hope that helps

Revo says the throw is reduced by 40%, and I'd say that's spot on. It's short for sure. It's a little harder when shifting into gear tho (not difficult I just mean you have to apply a little more force), but that's because it's shorter so you have less leverage. You get used to it really quick and it makes it feel a bit more like a race car, haha! Actually changing gears quicker would require some work to the clutch and even transmission, you should still let the clutch out at the same speed you do w/ the stock shifter.

What does the bushings refers to the 4 round washer alike where the 4 nuts are bolted into the chasis. I could be wrong.
dtf, what would solid bushing improve on the car rather than the revo one?
So Excited, can't wait to get one now..lol
My colleague has a mugen short shifter. Back then when I tried the flow it was not very short so I would not go for this brand. However, to be fair, I was driving k20a jazz with DCR5 gearbox and an unknown brand short shifter and it was like one of the world shortest shifter (not kidding) so maybe thats why I feel Mugen shifter wasn't short enough.

I have a Revo shifter with a weighted knob and shift stick extension... I like it more than I expected too... I'm able to reach, shift and have my hand back on the steering wheel in a flash without lifting my right shoulder off of the seat back..
Any chance of a photo? I for one would like to know what a weighted knob and shift stick extension looks like.
