all it does is require less throttle input to open the throttle more. Great if you want inaccurate throttle inputs and/or are too lazy to move your foot an extra 1/2”

 

^^^ It's very apparent that you have never driven a car with an etc.
The Sprint throttle controller is nothing like you describe.

I've used an ETC myself. It increases signal voltage from the throttle position sensor at the pedal (being sent to the TB), and the rate at which said voltage increases.. And does effectively reduce lag between applying pressure to the pedal and getting the throttle plate to swing open. In regards to removing the lag, I can't offer anything as to how that works. I figured the delay was on the side of the throttle body's servo. These do manage to command immediate response, so I guess it ain't the servo's lack of ability.

My beef with them is that they don't seem to like openly presenting the rate at which the signal voltage increases. If I put the apexi into a performance mode, It'd hit WOT immediately with the tiniest pressure, then drop off and build back up. In its lesser modes it'd increase delay before sending the signal to open the throttle. So you'd have a dead pedal for part of a second before the thing revved..

If the above mentioned company just removes lag and gives a steady increase in voltage, I'd put their throttle controller on when I had some spare cash. The funny contraptions really do have potential to make electronic throttles respond like cabled ones.

 

I've had my Sprint V3 Throttle Controller for about 6 months now. Maybe some others are different, but I have not noticed any delay or dead pedal before it accelerates. Also no lag..just a small nudge of the throttle and it feels like another vtec step. After a few weeks of using it...a driver gets used to the sudden response and eases into the throttle for regular driving...but it's there anytime you want it by just a little more push of the foot. With the cost...it's prob not for everyone, but if looking for an easy upgrade..it's def worth it.
