Hole by Gear Shift

I just got a 2010 Sport and was wondering what the hole is on the base of the gear shift. Is there a cover I can get for it?

Thanks.

Not sure what the part number is, but there should be a cover there. You could probably call the parts department of your local dealer and get them to look it up and give you a quote.Did you get it used? That's the shift lock release just incase you didn't know

Yes, you are supposed to remove the cover (when present) and insert your car key into the hole to release the shifter if it is locked in position (maybe due to a power issue like a dead battery).

Or you just want to roll the car without switching on the electricals.

In Cambodia, what they do is park any/EVERYwhere. and if your car happens to be blocking another parked car, they just roll you out of the way and then back... but that assumes you left the car in neutral and p-brake off (yes, always on flat land, not on incline/decline). My relatives would park, pull the key out of the ignition, then use the key to unlock the shifter and move it to neutral. (some/many/most AT cars won't let you take the key out in any gear beside Park).

Thanks for your help. I never thought such a tiny piece of plastic could be so expensive...

Anyway, is anyone else is looking, the part is 54714-TF0-951ZC and I believe it applies to all second gen Sports.

I'm surprised your Fit didn't come with one. Did you buy it used?

Jamy and calrose, yes, I got it used. But it doesnt bother me too much so the part can wait. (I'm also just being cheap, since $7 doesn't mean much in the long run.)
