Antenna stolen :(

My antenna disappeared off my newish '12 ge8. Should I tape over the hole until I get a replacement or just let it be? Never thought I would have to ask this question.

Was thinking of doing a shark fin mod since I'm forced to do something with it now.

Thank you!

I wanted better reception and picked up a long skinny antenna at Pep Boys It works a little bit better than the OEM one and picks up more stations but I still only pick up right wing propaganda, cookie cutter country, people selling pot belly pigs, chickens ( live or ready to go into the freezer) worn out "vintage" Cub Cadet lawn tractors and preachers that will send you an absolutely free genuine autographed photograph of Jesus Christ for a $10 love offering. "Send cash, check or money order. sorry no CODs"...

The sales man that did the new vehicle inspection for me when I was picking up my car told me that a lot of people had their Honda antenna's stolen. I even removed it the first few times I had to park on the street, but it was tedious so I stopped, never had a problem. But then again I see threads where people even had their wipers stolen... wtf?!?

Didn't your car come with the cap that goes over the antenna hole when the antenna is removed? You could just cap it until you get another sharkfin Honda antenna (just make sure its for FM). and post a part # and/or diy.

Man, rough neighborhood. Was the antenna ripped off or unscrewed? If it was unscrewed then the base should be fine until you get a replacement.

That sucks! I just did a Shark Fin upgrade and I have the old antenna still. If you want, PM me, and I will send it to you if you want it!

Karma.

I replaced mine with a Mangowalk Stubby 1.5" aluminum for about $10 on line. Reception is great in the city, but I'm usually using satellite or iPod, so it wasn't a big deal. I prefer the look over the longer antennae.

Hey woah, thanks for all the replies guys. I didn't receive a cap but I may call my Honda dealer and see if they can get me one for the time being (I work one block away from my dealer)

Thankfully it was simply screwed off, but I don't like having water sit in there all the time. I'm sure it's not a big deal. Now that it is stolen I may just spring for the shark fin since it was on my to do list anyway.

Dwalbert: Thank you so much for the offer, it is people like you who make me believe there are still nice people out there I'll kindly decline however since I'm going for the shark fin

Here in Canada we aren't just nice...we are also pretty faces...Here's a pic of my fin. Hope you like yours! BTW can't you just put a small piece of electrical tape over the hole for a bit?

Since the manual says to take the antenna off any time you go through a car wash, I wouldn't worry about water in there much.
