About 98% of the time I am going to be the only
person in my Fit (2012 Sport ).

I had a 97 Ford Explorer that I recently sold prior
to buying the Fit and for many years I only had
a single gray mostly sheepskin cover on the drivers
seat and it worked well.

Is it possible to find a 'superior' single seat cover that
is compatible with airbag that appears to pop out of
the side of the drivers seat ( the pictures in the spec sheets
appear to have the airbag coming out of the seat side bolster).

Same is true for me, but for aesthetic reasons I covered both front seats. If you are a Costco member or know someone who is, their sale on Coverking seats begins July 30th this year. I found the $50 membership fee well worth the savings. The neoprene seat covers are nice, they also offer leather and a less expensive mesh type now, too.

 

There was talk of Clazzio offering single replacement covers for individual seats way back when the first GB was organized...

If I were you I'd check with Bean Garage since they sell Clazzio's and see if Clazzio would sell just one cover.

and yes the Clazzio's are compatible with the airbags in the front seats, as long as you have them installed on the correct side.

It's hard to tell from the ad, but I think that was just a generic cover. A custom made one will fit and look much better.
