where to start?

If you want more power... nothing except a major rework under
the hood is going to make dramatic improvements.
Cosmetic or bling mods can be detrimental if you want more performance
due to the extra weight that can add up mod by mod.
Keep in mind that some mods may invalidate or cause warranty coverage issues.
Limited resell market for a heavily modded vehicle.
I have limited my mods (mod lite) to:
- tint
- body side strips
- locking gas cap
- wheel locks
- stainless steel ac condenser protector
...aside from that it is bone stock.
If you really wanna mod... then go for it. Some on the forum have
done some fantastic transformations.

Formula-1 cars were either 1.5-L turboed or 3-L NA...the 1.5-L turbos were kicking @$$... good enough for F-1 and not good enough for the Fit?

The late 80's F1 Turbo 1.5s were putting out more than 1000whp/Liter on 5 bar boost running Toluene and n-heptane.
There were reports of some churning out between 1600-1800rwhp on qualifying laps.

The races were often 200 miles worth constant wide open throttle of abuse, that would translate pretty far in a street/track car...

A very cool read for the technically inclined:
SAE # 890877 - http://www.scribd.com/doc/96203535/H...riginal-890877
Unlike a Top Fuel motor, where the crank spins ~60 full revolutions at WOT before a complete teardown. Those are also 5 times the displacement, and making only ~4 times more power.
Just food for thought
Guess whats coming back for the FIA 2014 season? 1.6L Turbo V6s

Start with
1- leather seats
2- monster cable (on aux)
3- bluetooth call/answering device
4- yeah, tinted films wrap
5- not trying something stupid like - this parking is small but my car sure fits! Dont wreck ur 2 weeks car on that tiny space. Find another

Monster cable on the aux input? Eh, just hit the dollar store, the stock stereo in these suck anyway.
I started with a new audio system (and due to my bad case of tweekitus that is still being changed every few months...)
I also did some custom paint arround the interior (also a WIP) and new wheels/tires. The better tires were a huge upgrade in handling btw.

Being disabled from a stroke is a pain physically / literally. Some days it's hard to find silver linings. But when I pull into a handicap spot (which I really have a legitimate need for from walking difficulties) I always position my tiny Fit to have as much room as possible from other cars...and each time appreciate that if I was parking in regular spaces, which seem to always shrinking upon parking lot restriping, it would probably no longer be a door ding virgin. (I give bigger thanks for making it 1.5 years past the stroke TODAY...the doctors told me 50% of men with my type stroke have another and die within 6 months. Also that I recovered enough to regain an unrestricted driver license, and finding the Fit so easy to drive that I bought it and sold my crappy old S10.)

First off, awsome to hear you are doing so well after such a nasty stroke. My grandfather has had several, so I know what they can do.
I tend to avoid high density areas when I park (I like the easy spots :P) so even with 31,000 miles on my car (in a year and a half) I have only one dent, and that is from a tiny rock on the highway. Though my front bumper is scraped due to stupidity (remeber to set the parking break if you are leaving a manual car in nutral...) and the rear one has a few scrapes from loading and unloading.
