Price on a new 2012 fit?

I've been calling around and I found a brand new 2012 Sport Fit AT I am interested in (silver). The best price I have found is $18,400 before tax/lic/fees.... is this a fair deal or can I talk the dealer down? Is the value reduced because it's a 2012 vs. a 2013? I am in the Seattle area. Thanks!

Honda doesn't make any money on Fits, so they're not likely to deal much on one. Anything below MSRP is good.

Depends on how long it has been on the lot, after a month they have to pay for it, so near the end of the month they might deal a little better. They have been in such short supply on this coast that it would be sold in short order as they freely pass them on to other dealers to sell.

It will depend on local demand for that combination and such. I ended up paying MSRP for mine in 2011. But there was no supply (after the tsnami and such) and I wanted a very specific car.

Over the weekend I purchased my 2013 Sport AT for 100.00 over invoice which was 18100.00 People are correct though the Fit has two things that make it not too discountable.

One is there's not too much of a markup on them and two they are still in above average demand compared to most other models. Just ask them for their invoice so you can look then offer 100.00 above that. They make money on other incentives in the backround that we never see so they'll usually do that no problem.

I got a quote of $19,538 OTD from a dealer in long island for 2013 fit sport tafetta white. For a 2012 fit sport, tafetta white, a dealer in NJ gave me a quote of $17,250. It's not the OTD price, I believe he will add $790(destination) + $500(scam fee) + tax and dmv.

I paid $18,330 when I bought mine in September 2011 without any haggling. I would think you should be able to do at least a few hundred better than I did back then.

Keep in mind all the extra costs when buying a new car. Here is a helpful tool for calculating the total purchase cost: Auto Purchase Calculator.

with destinination the MT is like $17.3K invoice, right? i think there's like a 800 penalty for the AT so should come out around $18.1K.

that said, your offer should be like $18,200 + tax, title, license.

Watch out for the "paperwork" charge. They said the $300 charge was for title and registration stuff, (about right) they did not say it was for filling out the paperwork and not for paying the title and registration. When I went to pick up the plates they charged me for the actual regitration....

That said, I was OTD for 17.2 on a 2011 base 5mt in white.

I assume you're not looking for one with navigation, but I got a very good deal and I believe the dealer lost money.

MSRP: $20,480
Market Avg: $20,516
Factory Inv: $20,143
Dealer Cost: $19,749
My Price: $19,500

The next closest dealer was $19,800 (Honda of Corona). I got mine at Fladeboe Honda. I called a bunch of dealers (about 6) around my area and asked for their lowest price. Lowest was Corona @ $19,800. When I called Fladeboe, they asked what the lowest price was. I said $19,500. :P They matched it. Boom, done.

I used this as a reference:

Just purchased a 2012 Sport AT for 18.5k plus tax and DMV. I walked out the first day but returned the second to buy when they gave me 2.45%/60 months. Needless to say, I love my Fit
