Coast in neutral downhill means no engine brake means brakes doing all the work equals brake fade/possible failure. That's why "They" say it's dangerous.

I swear going on the 80W though the mountains smells like a dragstrip, I suppose brakepads and clutch smell the same when they're burning.

Use lower gears.

I have a 2012 Sport Auto Trans and there is no way in hell I'm gonna shift into neutral to coast. I just take my foot off the gas pedal.

Foot off gas= no gas used as long as it's in gear.
