Splitting steering column cover?

I have a brand new 2013 Fit Base. I just noticed that the plastic covering around the steering column is slightly splitting into its two halves. Hard to describe, so I'm attaching a picture link.

Is this "splitting" normal? Have you seen it?

It's the joint where the upper and lower parts of the cover attach to each other. These are intentionally separate pieces of plastic (that can be disassembled) so that any necessary maintenance/repair may be performed; it's not a single piece that's cracking or splitting. The fit and finish/gap tolerances of the interior trim pieces of the Fit are not the car's strongest part. This looks pretty normal to me, not much different from my Fit.

Have you tried pressing them back together, it could be that a snap has popped loose? Mine def does not have that gap.

Line it up and press together. It should snap back into place unless something's broken (like a plastic tab or clip, for example).

Mine is doing that too, all attempts at tightening up the screws have not helped. I think the plastic itself is slightly warped from the molding process. Like DrewE says fit and finish on the Fit is not the greatest, but we are not looking at a Merc or BMW here!!
