Why did you buy a M/T Fit?
I bought mine with MT because I want the control.
took 15 mins to learn when I was 16 and haven't looked back.
Gotta love stick shift!
And I want the wife to drive it!! One of the sexiest things a girl can do. lol

Good thread. I for one hate most automatics. The modern ones are almost as efficient as manuals but they are so unresponsive. Im a bit of a control freak, true, however I cant stand needing to down shift in an auto to pass. Besides the Fit motor is so small I don't think I could live with an auto.
I bought an M/T Fit because of my last car, a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. The Santy had many, many problems and was noted for dying while cruising down the road, thanks to poorly designed crank sensor placement. Most of the time, when it died, I was able to downshift, pop the clutch, rev it insanely and bring it back to life. I can't forget the many times it made the difference in getting to the house. With an A/T, I would have been sitting on the side of the road waiting for a wrecker. I don't anticipate problems from the Fit, but I when I consider an A/T car, nine years of fighting the Santy surface and I just can't reconcile myself to an automatic tranny or keyless ignition.
When I drive I sit up and pay attention and drive.
I've had only 1 automatic -- just before my Fit. Numb.
I drove other brands before buying the Fit. The Fit seems more involving than some other cars with manuals -- it feels lighter on the road and less isolating.
I have always been able to best the EPA ratings while driving a manual but struggled to equal the EPA rating with that one automatic.

I purchased my mt because I love to drive in a sporty manner, which probably the reason my mileage isn't as good as others. I also like the control and the sound of my engine when it's in the high rpms. Only downside is I gotta teach the wife to drive it so she isn't so dependent on our 2011 forester x touring or 07 silverado 2500ltz , which are both auto.
