Questions about tire size on my rims. 2012 Base.

I admit it, I'm a noob when it comes to tires and rims.
I need some help with tire sizing and tire types.

I bought some 16X7 4x100 MB Motoring Mesh X Silver Rims +38 offset 73mm bore diameter.

I bought them for my 2012 GE Base.

When i took the rims to the local tire store, they said the only size that fits this rim on my Fit is 215/45r16. Unfortunately, this will cost $250/tire.

$1k for a set of tires that have to be replaced each year is a dealbreaker.

Now a quick search on the internet shows I can buy Kumho Ecsta XS 215/45-16 Tire for like $100/tire, but I read bad things about it's life and wet road handling.

Wet road handling and safety is a big concern, as my wife drives my Fit alot.

So, is this the only size that will fit my Fit on these rims? Is there a decent tire out there that has good life and good wet road handling?

Thanks for any help.

Sorry, i just noticed the typo. It's supposed to read 215/45r16, not 245.

Listen to Sol, and don't go bigger than 205/50/16. That dealer is NOT looking out for your best interest. You'll need camber with that offset.

With a +38 will maybe rub?

As you are driving a base why not just upgrade to Sport wheels. They are often on here for a good price with tires.
