Check Engine + Flashing D...and then both are gone?

I was recently on a trip and my check engine light lit up, along with a Flashing D. My GE8 AT was experiencing very harsh shifts. I was up in the mountains and a local repair guy pulled the codes saying I had low solenoid pressure. We checked and the transmission oil was at the appropriate level. He told me to limp my way out of the mountains and to a Honda dealer. After about an hour and a half of steady driving I stopped for gas/food. Restarted the car and the flashing D was gone (check engine still lit) and the shifting was smooth again. This morning, the car was back to normal (Solid D and no check engine light).

Anyone else experience this? If so, did it ever happen again? Is there anything simple to do to prevent it?

FWIW - I did drive pretty hard in paddle mode a few days prior. I was in 95+ degree heat at about 3-4000ft elevation...the car seemed to get back to normal as I got lower in elevation and into cooler evening air.

First of all, get a code reader to see what DTC code was captured if any.

perhaps low solenoid voltage. Yes there are some here that have had this issue accompanied by hard shifting.

If it's under warranty I'd take it in. Honda can pull the codes from the memory and fix it quickly.

If it's not under warranty, get an estimate for repairs. Solenoid sets can be pricey.

It should be under warranty (5 year 60K powertrain, 3 yr 36K bumper to bumper).
