New 2013 Fit... Wax?

Just bought a new 2013 Fit base and found a scratch on the exterior when I pulled it in the driveway.

Is it recommended that I wax the car? How would I do that myself and what is recommended product wise?

Can you post a photo of the scratch?

Sure. I'll take a picture tomorrow when it's light out. Regardless though, is it recommended that I give it a waxing?

Do what I did and put a decal bandaid sticker over it. I got my first scratch when load my road bike on my roof rack.

I'm going back to the dealer for some of the accessories that I had ordered. I'll see if they'll take care of it since it was not my fault. Wish me luck.

Still wondering what you all think about waxing in general anyways!
This is my first self-purchased car and I want to treat it well, but I'l completely clueless.

If the scratch is not deep enough to hang a fingernail, then it will probably come off with a good wax and buff. I use Meguiars Gold Class liquid wax exclusively and I always wax a new vehicle as soon as I get it home. This way you can see all imperfections and then can be brought to dealer's attention. Good luck

Add me to the wax it list.

If it is a small scratch you may want to live with it rather than trusting the dealership to get the paint around it re-sprayed and having it come out matching the rest of the car.

I just got my Fit a few weeks ago and started a thread about the clay bar, to clay or not to clay, I think - and there was a lot of good info in that thread about claying and also waxing. I waxed mine the first week I had it, and had a question about water spots, too. I wanted to see a picture of the scratch before recommending anything. A decal sticker is a good idea, though, depending on where it is.

New cars usually are delivered without any wax. It is a good idea to wax them as soon as you bring it home, if you like to keep your car in good shape. "Clay" the whole car before putting on the wax.
Minor scratches can be buffed out. Some detail shops can do touch ups if too deep to buff. I personally do not like repainting, dealer or not.
There are lots of opinions on what is the "best" wax. Just about any mid price wax you buy at auto part stores are very good these days. Some very high end wax may give slightly better results, or last a bit longer. Your wallet will be lighter, and most people won't notice the difference.
Do a search, there are lots of info and discussions here already.
