Cargo floor replacement with full size spare?

I've had my 2009 Fit Sport for about a week, and I picked up a used spare from craigslist with the original rim and OEM tire in great shape for $75 to replace the temp spare. The obvious side effect is that this larger tire prevents the original cargo area board/floor from being flush with the chassis. Does anyone who has already done this have a suggestion for specific materials or changes to provide a level floor in the cargo area when a full size spare is being carried? I know that I don't want to use plywood because a rearend accident would send chunks of wood flying through the car. Any suggestions of the material and plans that provided a good replacement?

Thanks in advance

There are a lot of people that change out the trunk board/floor with mdf for a custom sub woofer box and amp setup. I'm sure you could make something with that. I have also read from other GD fits here that the base model tire might fit as a spare. It seams like the rubber is the issue with theirs. Use a tape measure and good luck.

Put a couple of strips of wood glued or screwed to the bottom of the stock one to raise it enough to have proper clearance .

I ended up buying a 1/4" piece of 2' X 4' hardboard and cutting it down to 40 1/4". It is a nice snug fit with solid support, and I put some old towels underneath the right and left side on the suggestion of my wife, to support the board and to have something to kneel on when I work on the car.

i would just use the factory floor with blocks of foam to raise it. for the sides you can use some hard felt and glue it on there so you dont loose anything small in the nook.

The stock cargo floor has those hinges that didn't allow it to fit in well once it was raised by the full-size spare. This board allows the cargo liner to sit properly.

Maybe let the air out of the spare?
