How to ask for extra set of key for free

I am going to buy a Fit and already put the downpayment and I forgot to ask for extra set of key for free.

I understand key for Fit is expensive

In situation like this, do you have any tips for me to "ask" for extra set of key for free? How do you do it?

I try to research online but it is hard (use "key" as keyword)

Just ask your sales guy nicely? I'm pretty sure they won't mind throwing in another spare key since you're buying a $15K car.

One for you, your significant other, and a backup in case one gets lost?

I have 3 keys, 1 still has the little rubber/plastic sheath the key came in.

Try asking nicely, and if they say no, ask if they will cut/program a key for free if you bring them the blank. Then order the blank here:

It's not free, but better than paying for the key plus programming. The dealer is likely to say yes because this aproach doesn't cost him anything.

My salesman promised third key, but didn't come thru, when I pursued it after the sale the best I could get was extra key without programming, ok for me as it will be used as the travel key to unlock the steering wheel while towing, it starts car but computer shuts it down immediately. 65 to 100 for computer programming of key, Honda has control of cutting and programming, very few others can do it.

I don't know if there's a CT/PartSource in your area, but here in Edmonton when I used to work for PartSource we cut/program chip keys.
