I suppose if the hooks were installed in the All Weather's and they were pulled back toward the seat, it might not look too bad, but if the DigiFits covered it all, I would probably go that route

hard to tell from site pix. this was the closest I could find to illustrate..it looks like the lower left edge near the Logo Plate butts up against a sort of ridge. I'm assuming the "ridge" is where there is beginning to show new wear in my pix.. if that's the case. . the Weathertechs just might cover the whole damn thing..

My take on the damage is that the previous owner sat with their left leg bent, and pulled back, with the knee resting against the door armrest, and their left heel planted and dug into the carpeting below and just forward of the seat..

Good call, the stock floor mats are so tiny, carpet thin and I wear boots for work. With only 7000 miles I could see a hint of this exact same wear. Just as you described my legs do the same thing. I purchased the thick laser weather techs and they do cover that area nicely on the 2nd gen. I would have got the maxpider all weather mats but after reading of a few owners who had separation layer issues I went with the weather tech fronts and maxpider rears. Good to go.

by laser weather techs, I'm assuming you mean.. Digital or DigiFit Weather Tech...?
Also. I just purchased the Zeta dead pedal. not arrived yet. was wondering if and how that might interfere with the DigiFits...

There have been quite a few reports that I've read for the Fit that the stock driver's area fabric is not very durable. If the driving habits include any type of rubbing against a section, it will quickly wear through the fabric. This happens all the time, even if it's a a small female driver with fashionable shoes; and not just burly construction worker wearing steel toed boots.
If this bothers you to the degree that you went out to patch it; definitely get some type of aftermarket protection.

I owned a GD3 and bought the Zeta Dead Pedal (GREAT buy!), really effective, but didn't drive the GD3 long enough to consider mats before it was destroyed in a wreck. Now own a 2009 Sport that does not need the Zeta dead pedal because it has a dead pedal as stock. I did buy the Weather Tech Digital Fit mats. Very happy with the product. The Weather Tech mats MAY have an odd fit going over the Zeta Dead Pedal.
A carefully placed razor slit in the new mat next to the dead pedal may allow it to fit fine over the extra thickness of the dead pedal. Or, try a hair dryer or heat gun to heat the plastic to stretch it the slight amount needed to fit over the dead pedal. The Weather Tech mats are worth the cost, and if I had your car, would follow my own advice.

Yes, the digital fit weather tech floor liners. I also thought about getting some of that clear carpet protector film that the dealer uses and strategically place that on common places.
