A little bit worried

We have an '09 MT with 77,000 miles now. Had it since new. There seems to be a little bit of a hitch or something when I upshift from second to third gear. It doesnt want to just slide into gear Like it used to. I'm wondering if a synchro is wearing out if there is another problem. If I leave it in neutral for a second or two it's fine. We don't drive it hard. No problem with the other gears or on a downshift. Anybody have a thought on this?

Thanks.

Possibly something to do with the transmission fluid?

I hope you have been changing it at 15,000 miles first and then every 20,000 miles. If not, that could be the explanation of the problem.

If you haven't changed the transmission fluid since new, definitely do it. I just changed mine at 37,900 on my '09 MT, she shifts just as beautifully as she did new. I had a slight whine between 75-80, and it was a bitch notchy going into third, runs great now. If you DIY, it isn't very hard, and only costs about 20 bucks. There's a DIY thread somewhere here, I'll try to find it later.

EDIT: Found it....

change shoes lately? could be the problem too.

yah, i recommend doing the tranny fluid change first.
if that doesnt help, then it could be the syncro wearing out.

I changed mine at 25k and 50k, so far. Will be doing it at that interval for the life of the car.

Change the fluid like has been said. Mine started getting notchy around 65k on the factory fill.

Changed it around 70k, nothing on the drain plug and fluid still looked great. I am not hard on my synchros though. Notchy went away after fluid replacement and shifts great again. Going to change it again at 100k with all the other fluids.

Thanks to all of you on the gear lube suggestion. That never occurred to me. I will take a shot at that. Sure beats any other alternative I did think of.

Cheers

I should have mentioned too my drain plug came away clean, but then again I did my change at less than half your mileage, lol.
