funky smell from defroster

funky smell from defroster
not sure what the deal is..
when on defrost a stink like 'wet feet' as my wife said comes out of the vents. doesn't matter if in hot or cold temp.
when on any other fan setting no smells.
I replaced both filters about three months or 10k miles ago.
cars at 45k.
its a 2010 base .. Amy suggestions on what I should check?

What about when you run the A/C?
