Where can you penetrate the Firewall?

Hope someone can give me a good idea where to go with this. I am currently installing a flat 4 tow system on my new 2013 Fit. I have to feed a 1/4" air line from the engine compartment into the Drivers side floor area.

Where is the best place to penetrate the Firewall and an effective way to do it. I am quite sure you all can steer me straight.

Thanks

best way is to remove your oem intake box first. there is a hole where the ac line goes into right behind the intake. take a wire hanger poke it through from the engine bay and it will come out near the pedals.

Is there an area on the drivers side that I could drill safely from the cabin side with a 1/2" bit. I want to try and limit compression of the air line as it is needed for the airbrake actuator. Behind the insulation there is a section designed to be removed. There are some holes but they don't go all the way through. It looks like it was meant as an area to penetrate the firewall. Any thoughts?

Consider routing the air hose through the steering column or even the main wiring loom on the passenger side and then across to the driver's side. To avoid crimping the line, a harder plastic tube or grommet could be used when going through the firewall. Use a sealant around the area where it goes through.

You could also route the line inside the car through the spare tire well and under the carpeting. I'm assuming the 1/4" dimension is OD, such that a smaller line that is the same ID could be used in strategic areas or throughout the interior routing.

X2. Use an existing firewall penetration where Honda is already routing wiring or plumbing.

Okay, I have the OEM intake box off and have access to the firewall. Is there anything I should be wary of before poking a stiff wire through the hole?

have an assistant push it thru from the engine bay. u can see where its poking thru by the pedals. just watch that it doesnt poke thru the rubber wire boot that covers all the other wires coming thru there.

if u have trouble, i would use a long flathead, stick it from the pedal side. once the head pops thru, wrap the wire or w/e u got with duck/electrical tape and pull the flathead.

Got it, thanks for the help. I ended up pushing a small steel rod through the wire harness grommet from the engine compartment. Then I pushed the hose over the steel rod and using the rod as a bridge I pushed the hose through. Once I had it through I pulled the steel rod out of the hose from under the dash. Now the air hose is in place and I can setup the air brake system.
