Question Help! Problems with new fit

Hey, on a very cold day my car did a 360 on some ice and then the traction indicator light would not turn off, I drove it another km, turned the car off, went into the bank for 15 minutes, and then when I turned it on again the engine malfunction light came on as well as the traction light. Bad burning smell. Took it in. They told me the car was fine, now 3 weeks later I have an oil check 15% at 2640 km on a new Honda Fit sport 2013. Is this typical?

15% at 2640km is normal if you drive short distances all the time and the engine doesn't get a chance to warm up. I assume the car is older than 3 weeks and you haven't had another episode of the MIL light.

How long did it take you to rack up 2640km? What is your daily drive like? I haven't heard of the maintenance minder getting to 15% in less than 4000km (2500 miles). Impressive!

I bought the car in October, I drive about about 1-3 km 2 or 3 times/day for work, picking up supplies. The last car I owned, a 2005 Echo, had less than 80k on it it when I sold it, used in the same way for 8 years, it had none of these issues. I've been really happy with the Fit but this has taken some of the pleasure out of it.

What issues? It's telling you it needs an oil-change due to severe service by definition (short trips).

The MIL hasn't come back on, has it? That burning smell was probably you spinning the tires excessively on ice and hitting dry pavement. This would also play hell with the car's control systems and flag malfunctions. Did the dealer tell you what codes caused the MIL to come on?

Honda roadside said they'd never seen this before, the malfunction light and the traction light. The shop said nothing was wrong and there were no lights and that they reset everything. Trust me, our city was solid ice, the car's tires never touched pavement and I used to teach defensive driving, I know what I'm doing.

I can see how 360s could be defensive...

If it happens again, ask for the stored codes (even if the MIL is off it retains a history of what caused it to come on). Whatever caused it was momentary and not considered a permanent problem by the engineers who designed it or the light would have stayed on.

Was the burning smell exhaust, brakes, oil, electrical, or rubber? It's important.

Get your oil changed.

Lol, the 360 was done at about 30km on a suburban street w a rut that grabbed the wheels and spun the car. That's when the traction light wouldn't go off. I'm not certain what the smell was, breathtaking to be sure, chemically, a bit like rubber, a bit like oil.
Took the car in, got the oil changed, they called me up to pay and reclaim the car but a tech ran up and said he needed to "run the codes" and I waited another 45 minutes to get the car back. They told me everything was fine, which was interesting because I didn't ask about that.
