Freshly detailed...but what is this?

I just did a full detail inside and out on my girlfriend's '09 Fit Sport, but as I was buffing around the D pillar next to the roof spoiler, I saw this piece come out of nowhere onto the ground:

After I finally looked at almost every crevice in the area and compared it to the other side, I saw that it belongs in the nook between the pillar and the roof spoiler.

Driver side:

Passenger side:

This piece is barely lodged in there and not all that secure in the first place. I assume it's there to absorb the shock between the spoiler and the window when the hatch is closed, but I doubt it being effective for that since it's so loose. I tried putting it back in properly to match the other side, but it's difficult without pliers. So from risking scuffing the surface I left it out.

Is it there for another reason like aero or sound dampening? Anyone noticed or had to deal with it?

Anywho, all fresh with the Klasse treatment and 3 coats of sealant.

Also treated her to new Aries mats since the OEM all-weather ones were falling apart...and swapped out the bulbs to LEDs.

Needless to say when we're in the car together, I'm always driving it. So fun (just wish I convinced her better to get an MT).

Nice finish. Can't wait to get at mine in another month or so.

Don't worry about that piece and do a spoiler adjustment on her Fit.

Odysseys had a similar deal. When the rubber strips fall out, not to worry.
