Chipmunk shitting in my Cabin Filter - How?

How does he get in? It appears the air to filter comes in from the cowling and I cannot find any other openings. Am I missing something?

The last filter besides using as a toilet he chewed up most of the middle area.

Anyone have a similar problem?

Thanks

Here is a pic of heater unit from inside. The ares with arrow is what fits to the cowling.Name: Untitled-3.jpg

Alvin?!!!!

Someone had the cowling off and mentioned the intake below the windshield isn't screened. Rodents can access from the sides. Chipmunk highway...

OK thanks. I was looking at it and didn't think there was any access. I have had cowling off before so know how to do it. I will take it off and put some screen in. Alvin and his bros can go shit elsewhere. They are way too old to be doing this stuff. I remember when that song first came out.

Use moth balls to keep them away. Put the moth balls in a sock and put it near the point of entry, just put it there every time you park at home and don't drive around with them. Driving around with moth balls in your car may kill you. Moth balls are poisonous.

We had this problem . Sprinkled black pepper on the paved driveway under the front and mid area of the car(s) . Moved car(s) and put them back in same place . Did this for about a week . No problem since . May do it again as a reminder (deterrent ) to the critters . Also put scented cards ( Febreeze ) in the pleats ( top side ) of the cabin air filter .
