Starter starting to go at 138,000 miles

Just wanted to give everyone a report that my starter is going at 138,000 miles. Encountered a few hard start situations and this is a sign the starter is at the end of its life.

The starters that Honda and Toyota use are the same Denso type. What happens on these is its not really the motor, but these internal contacts which wear down over time.

Right around 150k-200k miles is where I would expect a Denso-made starter to go. To replace this item, I would do it with an aftermarket or reconditioned starter. Dont pay $600 for the Honda starter which would be a waste. I think you can pick this up at Autozone for $250. According to my database, they will charge 2 hours to replace the starter. So you are looking at nearly $500 when all is said and done. Im going to run this starter into the ground to be honest.
