Remote wont unlock car

My Fit, 2009 has had no issues until today. Unlocked my car, drove 45 miles, got out and couldnt lock my car using the remote. All doors including hatch are closed. It unlocks, the panic alarm works but cant lock it.. Dealer wants so much money just diagnose this its crazy, it seems logical that it cant be a serious issue, any suggestions or help would be appreciate. Thanks, Jim, a Honda Fit LOVER

Could be your lock button has some dirt buildup underneath it. When you can, see about taking the key fob apart (unscrew it) and then use a cotton swab to polish the button terminal contacts. The underside of the rubber buttons will also have contact pads that may need to be cleaned. For that I use a small amount of diluted rubbing alcohol and let it dry completely before re-assembling.

Have you opened your hood lately? I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. Turned out that my hood wasn't latched properly. When the hood isn't latched, it won't beep, I don't know for sure if it'll lock. I can test it tomorrow, if you'd like.
