Modifying Seat Cover to Allow for Side Airbag

I bought some cheap but very pretty Hawaiian print seat covers for my 2012 Fit Sport, and my plan is to modify them so that they do not interfere with the side airbags. I am not sure exactly where the side airbags deploy from.

I see the little tag that says "airbag" along one of the side seams. Does the airbag burst thru that seam? It is a long seam that runs from the top of the seat to the bottom, and I am thinking the airbag wouldn't be that long.

I am planning to cut a rectangle over the area the airbag explodes through but I don't know exactly where it is along the side. Top? Bottom? 6 inches long? 12 inches long?? I have looked online for info, but can't seem to find it, so I am hoping someone here knows.

there ius an outline seam around the airbag location. be certain you cut a hole that is one inch outside the seam and does not fold over in front of the bag.
you may want to contact Honda though I bet they will not approve any seat covers besides OEM. remember, your insurance company and lawyers aere looking for ways to prevent you from collecting damages and so the covers are a risk.

So, basically, the airbag takes up the entire panel surrounded by the stitching--from near where the seat back meets the seat all the way up to the "shoulder" and a bit around the back of the seat? Wow...That's a huge area.

I googled and found a photo of the side airbag "module" and it doesn't look quite that long. I don't want to skimp-- I want to make sure that the cut-out I make will allow the airbag to deploy.

I also watched a few "airbag deploying" videos on YouTube, and it seems like the airbag rips thru the seam with the tag, but not the seam that runs parallel to that seam.

I appreciate your feedback about the location, as well as potential insurance issues. Thanks!
