Just bought 2009 Fit Sport upgraded from 1997 Civic hatchback!!!

Hey everybody. I just bought a 09 Fit Sport this weekend. I got a pretty good deal because it has almost 100k on it.

It is a great upgrade from my 97 Civic hatchback that had the transmission go out. It also has a exhaust that needed to be replaced with a pipe hanging down, which I was about to replace but now I'm glad I didn't.

A bit off topic but... The dealer was going to give me $500 for my Civic, which I was going to tow there tomorrow. But it seems that many people are very interested in my Civic, before I have even said what I was going to do with it or placed an ad. So I think it would not take long to find someone who would give me $1,000 for it.

It's a low risk idea because the dealer will just add the $500 to my financing probably. They were also going to charge me $100 to get the title of I can't find it by tomorrow. So really, I'm only getting $400 for it.

Are they aware of all the problems u listed? I you were sure these folks really have the money to pay up in FULL up front (youre not a bank to do payment plans) then i would try. But if you REALLY like that fit and cant see finding one that cheap in your area then donnt try this plan b.

I already have the Fit. That sale is final. But they are expecting me to deliver the Civic tomorrow. I had been told something to the effect of the contract being adjusted if I don't bring in the trade in or the down payment doesn't clear. Being that the trade was valued at $500, they could only add that amount to what I owe. Their $100 charge for getting a replacement title is crazy because it would cost me $10.

Then again, I might just stick with the original plan and be done with it.

Yes if you signed the dotted line, the deal is done. If you don't had over car the bank could sue. See once you sign, it's the banks car. Not the dealers. So the dealer is the one that needs your car. You accepted the deal it means u accepted the dollar amount.

That all said, congrats. I you need your pix cleaned up and cropped, ill do that and post in this thread. Mailto:anfbro27@yahoo.com.

That's good to know. I guess I will just follow through.

Yes, I am thrilled with the Fit.

Right-on bro email as many shots as you want. I'll clean them up as much as available.

I think if your civic runs and is not crashed, you can definitely get over 1000$ for it. Is it a manual or an auto?
That being, said, I traded in an 95 nissan altima 5 speed for 500$ and all it needed was airbags, otherwise was in great shape. I chose to do that because I didn't want to deal with selling it privately... in LA, parking is hard to find. Good luck with the new Fit. Welcome to the family.

If I would have thought about it a little earlier, I would have held on to my Civic to try to sell for more. I could have parked it in my driveway for a long time.

But... blown transmission, rust in 2 spots, scrapes on door, needs new exhaust and the hood release cable was about to go out too. I needed a pliers to pull the release and even then the hood would have trouble popping up.

So considering all of that and being able to just be done with it, I went ahead with the trade.

None the less, I'm sure some Civic hatchback freak will be very happy with it as a project car. I heard the dealership owner was a big fan of Civic hatchbacks and had a couple parked in the back that were not for sale.

I traded in a 98 v6 accord with frame damage and still got 1200 easy. But after reading comments if you promised the car, and signed the contract then there is no wiggle room. And i know 500 may seem like a lot, but you won't have to deal with the headache of trying to find a legit buyer or having to wait months for a deal to actually happen.

My brother had an '04 STi with 180,000 (Hard miles) that he used to track until he blew his second engine. He sold it a couple of months ago for $7,200 and it had to be towed away!!
