AT Went a little flakey yesterday

Yesterday the automatic transmission in my 2010 with 71,000 miles, started acting very strange. To set the scene, it was snowing & the roads were slippery. The fit was loaded with 480 pounds of wood pellets which I had just purchased at Lowes. As I left Lowes, the transmission shifted with a jerk at every upshift or downshift. When I entered the highway, the transmission would not shift into 5th gear. At that point I knew something was wrong. I tried upshifting with the paddle and nothing. The paddle shift indicator light didn't come on either. Thankfully no flashing "D" light. I stopped and turned off the engine for a minute. When I restarted all was fine. Today during my 60 mile round trip commute, everything was fine and the car was back to it's old self shifting as smooth as ever. I don't get it. Maybe the combination of heavy loads and slipping wheels made the transmission freak out?

I think you hit the nail on the head, somewhat heavy load and slippery conditions may have overheat the transmission

When was your last fluid change?

Consider setting aside repair funds (sooner or later you will need them). Unfortunately when transmission acts up at least once, it's usually a sign of coming problems.

Fluid change is really a good question... I'm sitting at 40k with my '13. I went to the stealership for oil change, they recommended at 35k a tranny fluid change...
