2010 Fit Hard Shift 1 to 2, 2 to 1
When the engine is cold, hard shift from 1 to 2 and 2 to 1. Sport Shift (Paddles) non-operational, no indicator for gear. Yes, I have shifted the paddles hundreds of times, not a paddle issue. Drive a few miles, turn off the engine, restart and the problem goes away. Sport Shift works fine with gear indicator showing. Helms factory manual suggests ATF temp sensor, input and output shaft speed sensor. Anyone ever have this problem? ATF changed by Honda dealer a few months ago. 80 K miles.

Ok, I wasn't clear.
1 - I start the car and put it in Drive. I never use those paddles!
2. The engine is cold, usually I haven't driven in at least a day. I work at home and I don't drive a lot.
3. After only a few yards, the shift from 1 to 2 is very hard. 2 to 1 is also hard.
4. I shift into S and no gear number on the dash. Paddles don't work
5. I turn the engine off.
6. I turn the engine on and everything works.
7. ATF changed at Honda dealer a few months ago at 80 K miles.

Interesting. The hard shifts could indicate a mechanical problem, but the engine on/off cycle would indicate an electrical gremlin. Tough to figure indeed. Most auto parts stores will check for codes at no charge. Even if your Malfunction Indicator Light isn't lit, a code might still be stored.
