Exclamation Battery replacement without battery tender/backup?

I'm planning to replace the battery today on my 09 Fit. If I simply disconnect and swap without using a battery tender, does it pose any issues with electronics other than me having to put in radio code (i got to find that darn thing) and redo the presets?

Nope, at least nothing to be concerned about. It also resets a few things in the engine control computer so it may sort of start over in figuring out precise timings and mixtures for your engine, but that's not a problem.

You do also have to reset the clock on the radio, along with the presets.

Just pulling the old battery out and plunking a new one in is how nearly everybody changes the battery, so far as I know. I haven't heard of anyone using a battery tender or similar to keep the system energized during the process.

Thanks Drew. that's what i thought but since modern cars have a lot more electronics it wouldnt hurt to ask. Though i think the shops do use some power source so the customers dont have to go thru all this.

IF you have a lot of crud in the engine, you may find it runs like crap after you put battery in. That's because the engine "learned" to compensate for the lack of performance. In our 03 Camry you could hardly keep it running. We had to have the injection system cleaned to get it to run better.
