Airbag Recall Roll Call!
When we were at Bell Honda in Phoenix for the airbag, the service dept folks told us that they get docked in pay if they don't get a good write up on Facebook. I thought that was a "sales pitch" to us, for whatever reason. Anyone else have that conversation? I do like Bell Honda as they have treated us well, but always have that "don't quite trust them" attitude about car dealers. We have Community Tire near us & I'd rather go there for service, but the wife thinks it's better to go to Honda. argh
They're idiots. Honda has completely forsaken service and quality. I don't know where their heads are at (at the corporate level).
BTW, I still haven't been called about my airbag replacement.

For those with the airbag being replaced . You may want to check the small cover that hides the electric connectors / wiring on the bottom of the steering wheel . It could fall out at any moment due to the tabs getting bent when removed and not snapping back in place securely . A new one had to be ordered . Hopefully that'll be snug . I believe it's being covered . Not a cheap part for the small size .

I bought my 2013 Fit sport on 8/13/'16 from the original owner. He did not have the airbag repair done, so I contacted my local Honda dealer the next day after buying the car. I had service order the airbag repair kit and then went to the parts dept. to have them check on the availability of the kit. The info there was a little convoluted- a repair kit was initially available, and then a week later it wasn't available. And then to my surprise it came in a few days later and was installed 9/1/'16.
Just for info- I did not have any leverage in the repair kit order/ installation time frame i.e. I did not have a rental car paid for by Honda or live in a high humidity area in the US. Some forum members believe these were the two priorities for Honda to prioritize individual repairs.

Called American Honda (800-999-1009). Spoke to "Vanessa." I wanted to know about the Enterprise Rental Car that Hollywood of Honda is supposed to provide for me while my airbag work is being done. Specifically, I wanted to know who will pay for the rental and how this would be done. I don't want to have someone put charges on my credit card, and then be left in the position of having to chase down a reimbursement.
Vanessa said, "Well, have you contacted Enterprise?"
American Honda has worked aggressively to push responsibility onto everyone else. Dealer says contact Honda. Honda says contact dealer. The runaround.
I asked Vanessa if I could speak to a supervisor. Ten minutes on Hold. No supervisor available. But don't worry. Someone will contact you. When? When they are available.
I wonder if I am going to buy any more Hondas. They seem to be working at the same level as Mazda and Toyota. There is no longer a reason to pay a premium for their cars.

Suction cup marks on inner windshield after recall fix
I recently had my airbag replaced at the dealer under the recall, and I noticed afterwards that there were large suction cup marks on the inside of the windshield. I asked the dealer, but they say that they didn't use suction cups when doing the recall fix, and they don't know why there would be suction cup marks at all.
There doesn't seem to be any damage to the windshield, but I'm very curious as to what they could have done to the windshield that would require suction cups.
Could it be that something was done during the recall fix that somehow made suction cup marks (that were previously not visible) more visible?
Has anyone had a similar experience?

The suction cup marks have nothing to do with the airbag replacement you recently had done. They've probably been there since you got your car, and show up when it gets a little foggy on the inside. My 09 still shows the suction cup marks from assembly. ( it's how they install the windshield at the factory.)

Called about a week ago and they said they had to order the part and it would take 2-3 weeks. They said they would call me when it arrived, but the whole thing felt really unofficial. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even call.
It shouldn't take so long to get the dang part. Seems like some people are getting in done same day and other waiting weeks.

The part for my car was "pre-ordered" 3 months before it actually came in, so it took quite a while for me. Maybe if I had called nearer to the time when the parts were actually coming in, it would have been faster.
