Question Rubber strips on roof

Hey all... who knows what the two rubber strips that run along the edges of my roof are called? I have an '08 Fit, and when going through the car wash, one got torn off. I'm pretty sure they are just to cover the grooves and don't really serve a purpose other than asthetics, but it needs fixed. I described it to the dealer, and he knew what I was talking about, but after they told me how much they wanted to replace it, I was rolling on the floor laughing too hard to ask what they were called... Help?

In the online repair manual they are called roof mouldings. I have also heard them called filler strips.

We'd like to roll on the floor laughing at the dealers' ridiculous price...hint-hint (mind sharing?)

And good luck with the DIY.

Maybe you can post pics & tips when you're done.

I’ve had this happen twice when taking my 09 fit through the car wash.

you should be able to reinstall the old roof moulding rather than replace it.

its a bit of a pain in the ass to install. As recall, there are little metal clips on each end that slot into small posts at each end of the groove.

I'll be leaving mine off and buying good grade seam sealer (grey to match my fits color if I have luck)..... Just cause WAY too much dirt and humidity accumulates under those strips.....
