Plasti-Dip

Well I'm debating about plasti-diping my roof of my GE8 over the weekend. Does anyone have any pro or cons that anyone would like to share.

I've done my emblems and my diffuser already and it looks good. The roof of the car is a BIG jump.

You might want to get a spray gun. Larger areas are harder to cover evenly with a rattle can IME. Other than that, Tape off everything that you don't want to get spray or over spray on and have fun. And I'd probably do 5-6 coats for a roof.

I've seen people do it on YouTube but they complain about the unevenness of it and streaks, etc.

thanks for the info I saw the videos on YouTube and I do see what you are talking about. How much was it for the vinyl and how is it holding up?

Quotes I got for the roof were between $280-325 for 3M or Hexis CF Vinyl.

I hope that helps.

Mine looks excellent and really changes the look of the car.

that's rather sharp!

For a moment I was afraid it would look like a Fit with side-burns (vinyl down the pillars).

I would not PD the roof, it will look very uneven, if your blacking the roof, do vinyl or paint...PD is not good on the roof.

i agree, you would have to have steady hand and add on even coats. iv seen pretty crappy jobs when doing bigs parts like hoods and roofs. some spots come out darker then other spots. just do vinyl

I've vinyl'd my roof twice now. One gloss black, but my roof rack fairing ripped it a little, and I saw a great deal on the hexis cf, so I used that. Gloss black is pretty cheap, about $80-$100 for the vinyl, then a 6-pack to get a couple friends to help w application.
